Do security safes have to be bolted onto the floor? And generally speaking, is that ok to do in an apartment?

Question:I know I would probably ask the owner, but I'm just asking, in general, if that's allowed.

Answers:
A home safe is not useful if it can be picked up, or loaded onto a handtruck. This happens quite often. Then the burglar can break into it at his convenience.

But if with the owner's permission you bolt it to the floor most burglars will leave it alone. They need to operate as quickly as possible and they will not waste time on a safe they cannot easily move or open.

Unprofessionals, like drug addicts might spend more time attacking a safe, but unless they have hours to work there is little chance they will be able to remove it.

There are various levels of protection, including safes that are fireproof and waterproof. The more space inside, the stronger it is, and the better the locking mechanism the more expensive they will get.

best ask owner and do not thank they will alow it unless you are going to leave it behind.
