Do i need a permit for a garage sale/yard sale?

You may need a permit. Each city has their own restrictions. I grew up in a tiny town, and you did not need a permit. However, I now live in a city of about 50,000 people and if you do not have a permit, they will shut you down and ticket you for operating a business without a license. Call city hall to find out for sure!

This depends on where you live. Your HOA or your city my require a permit. Check with your local chamber of commerce and HOA.
