What is the purpose of the red dot near the nozzle on most cans of spray paint?

Question:I’ve been told that you should line up the direction of spray with that dot of paint, but don't know why.

Answers:
Just to make sure you aim straight. Just imagine aiming anywhere, it can hit someone in the eye or something.

I have heard the same thing. The nozzle sometimes moves and it still sprays the same so I don't know why they bother putting it there.
Well did you try not lining up your hole to the nozzle at the red spot.If you did you might have the answer to your question. It seems to flow at the correct pace not to thick not to thin.
It's so that mentally you'll stop and remember that you are using their spray can, it's a reminder.
