I have four bird baths that are not moving water. I change them everyday so mosquito larve doesn't have time to take hold. There is no need to add anything into the water.
If you just clean the bird bath once in awhile you wont have that problem..!
try a little bit of vegetable oil, about a teaspoon should do the trick.
an item called a mosquito dunk
You can add some bleach.....It will kill the ones there and the smell will leave in afew hours...do this late at night....empty and add fresh water if you wish
You can buy these little disks at Wal-Mart or Lowes that are just for that sort of thing. It kills all stages of the mosquitos without hurting the birds. You could also change the water every two days as it take three for the larvae to full develop.
a couple drops of Dove Dishwashing liquid will do the trick and not harm anything.
go to your hardware store and buy some stuff called "mosquito beater" this stuff is safe for fish, so i assume it's safe for birds.
