New Bonsai tree is loosing leaves?

Question:I got a bonsai tree a little over a week. its a "Gardina May Bonsai" tree. The inner leaves have been falling off. Is this normal? What could be the cause?

Its indoors and gets morning sun and afternoon shade. And it is watered by regular well water every 3 days.

Answers:
Hello. Some things that might help. Do you mean you have a Gardinia Bonsai? These shrubs are tropical and semi-tropical plants. They do not like draughts, and I think your watering too much. They are used to not getting water too much in their natural state. And yours is a bonsai. This means that actually you have a miniature of a real bush. The watering should be reduced to once or twice a fortnight in Winter, and possibly every week in Summer.Plus it should only be a thimble full.No draughts, partial shade, little watering.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Caring for a bonsai tree is a lot of work. you need to get insight on how to clip and water it properly. It should probably be watered three times a day if it is drying like that.
Hi
I just got a Bonsai tree a few weeks ago... It sounds like it needs less sun and some fertilizer and maybe a different way of watering..
Try doing the following:
In the spring and summer time the bonsai needs to be water twice a week..
Set your Bonsai in a water filled container or sink. The water level should be about a half an inch above the top of the pot. Just leave the water for about 5 to 10 minutes and the water will be absorbed throughout the soil. Or you can water your bonsai directly at the top of the pot using a spray gun. But certain to water all around the trunk and not just the front. Keep watering until the soil is completely saturated.. Also, spray mist the foliage and moss occasionally with water. It allows your Bonsai to stay clean and cool.
Also, you need to fertilize with special bonsai fertilizer..
Apply the Bonsai fertilizer or Green Green (Plant food)
Avoid sunlight during 10am - 5pm. Bonsai should get 3 to 4 hours of medium sunlight daily. Remember to turn the Bonsai in different positions periodically.

Good luck!
The advice from "wheez" was very good, but the advice from "lauri.." was bad. A gardenia doesn't like to be soaking wet, only moist. NEVER set up a watering schedule, but water only when it needs it. Watering and fertilizer seem to be the problem, but of course, we can't be sure. It could easily be a bad soil mixture, but none of us know unless we can see your tree.
