How long does it take for untreated red cedar to weather?

Question:How much time does it take for it to change colour into silvery grey? Is its innitial colour that of regular wood? thank you.

Answers:
It took my fence exactly one year to turn grey. It, however, gets hit with 100 degree blazing hot sun and the automatic spinklers daily.
