Question:I need a dog and kid friendly solution. I've tried the little ant trap discs..but they seem to totally avoid them.the yard is over run with ants and ythey're driving me nuts. makes it impossible to spend a nice family afternoon outside.

Answers:
I had a problem with ants and used ordinary household grits. there cheap to buy, just sprinkle them around (dry of course) where you see the ants or if you know where the nest is at. They will take it to the mound and when they eat them ants need water so the grits will expand and cause the ants to blow up. I used this on several mounds and had no problems with ants afterwards. Hope this helps.

Call your local exterminator! They can help, or give you some kind of advice that will help. They are licensed professionals who specialize in that field.
You need a broadcast bait like Amdro, which you spread all over the garden. It's poison, but you're kids and pets would have to lick the entire surface of the garden before it would make them sick.

Just be sure to properly store such products with the rest of your household chemicals -- away from pets and children!
