I keep finding mould spores around my house.?
Question:I have recently found mould spores on my wall,on further investigation i found the spores had come through the wallpaper. After removing paper and attacking area with bleach, spores haven't returned.
Someone told me spores are airborne,is this true? If so,how can i test this?
Answers:
The source of the spores depends on their location. If they're on an external wall, then check the outside of the wall immediately behind where the spores formed; it's possible there is moisture penetrating through the brick/stonework, either through a leaking gutter allowing water to run down the outer wall, or through failed cement pointing. If the spores are showing up at random points (usually high level) then it is undoubtedly a condensation related problem, and you need better ventilation.
yes they can be air bourne not sure how to test but a little trick for damp and mould etc especially behind wall paper is peel back paper cover the area in tin foil then re stick paper!
Insufficient ventilation. Spores don't like oxygen. Leave doors open in the house in daytime.
the places where you find the spores must be cold spots on you walls. the warm air in you house will find these spots and condence on them, thus causing the mould. You might of got rid of them now but they will return. To keep them away for good, you need to make sure the air in your room can circulate. Do not put furniture right up to the places where the mould is appearing, let the air flow.
