Is Geneva, IL a good place for a family with young kids to live? What about Batavia?
Question:We are looking to move to Geneva or Batavia but want to know more about the areas. Good place for kids? Recreation? Schools? Community? Any info is appreciate on either area-Pro's and Cons
Answers:
Geneva and Batavia are good places but expensive. I live in Aurora, but work in Batavia. I have friends who live in Batavia as well. It's a nice area-- peaceful, alot of development- there are new houses everywhere, and not alot of crime
~Fabyan Park is beautiful, and the country side is gorgeous. ~Funway for Arcade, Skating, Go-Karts.
~Geneva Commons (Barnes and Nobles, Coach, etc)
~standard chain stores (wal-mart, best buy, meijer, target, sam's club).
~Randall 15 w/Imax-- movies :D
If you go to the downtown areas in each city, you have the small mom and pop stores and lovely historic architecture to be appreciated.
Neighboring neighborhoods includes Naperville , North Aurora, Aurora.
~They have the Fox Valley Mall (aka Westfield) in Aurora/Naperville, and Phillips Park Zoo and Aquatic Center (Aurora).
~In North Aurora: Tinseltown, another movie theatre, and a bowling center next to it.
~Aurora offers the Chicago Outlet Mall right next to I-88, as well as the Paramount theatre for shows and performances. and Hollywood Casino for the gamblers.
Yes! Beautiful areas.. If I were to locate in Chicago, I'd want to be in that area. Good luck.
I grew up in Aurora IL DON'T GO THERE!!
but I think that Batavia is a real nice community.

I lived in Geneva/St. Charles for 20 years. It has now become very conjested - traffice is HORRIBLE. I moved away 14 years ago and do not regret it. We live farther west now in Hampshire, IL. Even going back to that area to visit is terrible. Too many people, too much "yuppie" stuff, and over crowded schools. I would consider looking elsewhere, unless you enjoy being stuck in traffic all the time. Homes are also very over priced.
Try looking into Elburn which is just alittle farther west, or even Burlington or Sycamore.
