Aloe plants are succulents and hold water. They do not need alot of moisture. Allow soil to completely dry out before watering again. Place in the sun either outside or in a southern window of your home.
I'm going to take a giant leap of faith and assume that the Alvera plant you are speaking of is actually an Aloe Vera plant which is a medicinal plant and is a succulent. If the plant "looks like it's dying" because it is shriveling up, it was allowed to dry out. You can try loosening the soil around it and just watering it -- but don't overwater it that would be just as fatal. It's possible that it has not been watered DEEPLY enough for the roots to drink so they can send water up into the plant. Re-potting into a pot just a couple of inches larger in diameter and putting some new soil around the ball of the plant may help it to rally. On the other hand, if the 'leaves' appear to be almost soggy at the base and spongy, the plant has been over-watered and you might just want to wait it out to see if it recovers without any treatment. It wouldn't hurt to ask at a nursery or florist if there are any supplementary fertilizers you could apply. And of course, if all else fails -- Talk to it! Good Luck!
