What's the best mosquito repellant?
Question:One that is available in the Philippines, please. Thanks!

SkinSoSoft (by Avon) is great at keeping the little biters away, but another great tip is to use a white plate ( can be a plastic plate) and add bright yellow lemon dishwashing liquid and about 1/4 cup of water. It needs to look yellow and be somewhat thick. (Lemon Joy seems to work the best, but you can use any lemon dishwashing liquid) The mosquitos seem to love it for some reason, and will flock to it and either drown, or will die shortly after flying away.
I put out several of the plates during mozzie season, and I always have hundreds of dead ones either on the plates, or on the ground nearby.
And don't eat banana's when you plan on being outside. You excrete it through your skin, and the mosquitos just love the smell !!
I hope this helps...
Staying indoors
Candles work well and don't eat bananas before going outside. any smoke.
If you live in a malaria prone area (I think you do), you need one with "diethyltoluamide" in it. Make sure you wash it off when you go back inside. "Repel" is one brand, I don't know if it's in the Phillipines. Look for something that says "tropical strength".
I am not familiar with the insect repellents available in the Philippines but there should be some with "Deet" in it. The higher concentration the better I would think.. Check out: http://www.deet.com/content/htm/about.ht... & http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets... ...Good Luck...
I have found that "skin so soft oil" by Avon is cheap and works great!! It's also good and safe to use on your pets. Good luck
wish i knew
I think Ret68 is correct. Deet is regarded as the most effective mosquito repellant available. It should be readily available in the Philippines.
In many tropical countries, people sleep under mosquito nets. Repellants tend to evaporate.
Take one or two brewers yeast tablets a day and mosquitoes will shun you. I used to be mosquito "candy" but since taking the brewers yeast tablets every day starting in the sping they never bother me.
Brewers yeast tablets are found at your local pharmacy and are really cheap.
