Are realtor lock boxes safe to leave oustiside your home?

Question:I am currently selling my home and I still live there, I havent heard of anyone breaking into the outdoor lock box, but I want to make sure my family is safe.

Answers:
Those lock boxes are quite secure. Getting it off the door and opening it is a lot of work. A burglar would find it easier to break a window, for sure. In 10 years as a locksmith I never heard of a break in where a lock box had had failed

we had one on my ld house and they are pretty damned tough.anyone wanting to break it would make less noise by breaking into the house directly.if you have the key to the realtor box you could take it off at night and put it back during the day.but i wouldnt worry
The key to the house is inside the box, A Realtor has a key to the box ( so they don't have to fumble with several hundred keys)
