Is a yale and chubb lock good enough to keep out potential burglars?
Question:
Answers:
as said by others before, any quality lock is as effective as the door/window and other hardware fitted to the door/window.
All locks that have the BS kite mark have to undergo certain tests
they are, they have to have hardened steel cases or protection over the working area of the lock, pick resistant anti slip and anti shim system. there are ways to pick and defeat all locks but unfortunately most low life don't bother trying to beat the locks they will just smash the patio door glass or hit out a large window that's assuming the home owners have not left themselves as an easy target doors and windows are often left unlocked windows open etc.
If you are concerned. contact your local security adviser at the police station or Master locksmith there are lots of common sense things to secure your house without spending £squillions
If a burgler wanted to get in no lock would stop them...trust me
I would say yes, also, a sign with "This property is guarded by Smith & Weston" would be an added deterent too! lol. Have a good day.
ye from coming in the door but have you secured your windows and any where else someone could gain access
as long as you don't leave the window open ... yes it should be
YALE ID SAY BUT THE BETTER THING IS ONE HELL OF A MASSIVE BULL MASTIVE DOG.
Locks are deterrents to assist honest people to remain honest. A determined burglar will eventually get in. The better the lock, the longer that time.
you should put up a sign that says beware of the dog or i can make the gate in 5 seconds can u itll make robbers think u have a dog and and wont take the risk to go in dogs will bark and wake someone if u were a robber would u take the risk
A lock is a good preventative...the longer its going to take them to get in the less likely they are to pick your home. But yes, if they want to get in, they'll get in. Burglars rely on speed and quiet. If this is your home, keep shrubs away from windows (convenient hiding places for them to work) invest in an automatic lighting system. If you don't already have one, think about getting a dog. Just DON'T have it sleep in the bedroom with you. Hope this helps!
No matter how good the lock, if someone really wants to get in, they will do it. Modern tools mean they don't even need to deal with the lock, they can just cut a hole in the door. But if you have a good lock, you will send the burglar to the guy down the street who has a poor lock, because its less trouble to break into his house.
It depends how many levers the lock has. A security lock should have at least 5 levers.
Yale or similar Chubb lock are not classed as locks but are latches. OK I was a joiner for years and must have fixed thousands of them. I can open one without a key in seconds, they must make a burglar think its happy birthday time. People have strange ideas. I saw a man fit a very good, very expensive hasp and staple and padlock to a pair of garage doors. They had hinges made out of old conveyor belt. anyone with a pen knife could cut the hinges and be inside in short order.
