From a hardware or food shop you should be able to buy a treated corn product called Rat-rid.It might be called something different in your part of the world. This product is coloured green to distinguish it from ordinary corn. But the mice don't know that. They love it and they die very quickly. So easy. No traps. Good Luck!
My mother had a mouse this spring & they seem to go after peanut butter more than cheese. We used them both. I'd go with peanut butter.
Peanut butter, the thick kind not creamy. Bacon tied with sewing thread and you wont have to keep baiting the trap. You can even smear a little peanut butter on the bacon.
if you really want to catch a mouse this is what I do . I use a spring loaded mouse trap . I use a grain of hard corn hot glued to the tripper pan. since they cant lick the corn off they will try to pull it off they do like peanut butter but they will lick the peanut off the tripper without setting the trap off .
toasted cheese- heat it with a match after you put in on the bait pan.
