Should I replace platic guttering with cast iron ones?

Question:I have some rather tatty plastic guttering on my Edwardian house. I am contemplating replacing them with more expensive cast iron period guttering. It'll look better, but are there downsides - security (easier to climb up?!), more easy cracks etc...

Answers:
I have cast iron and they rust, and the paint peels, we're thinking of changing them to plastic.

if you're worried about people climbing up you can buy special paint that greases them up.

.
Replace it with decent plastic gutter. It will last longer than cast iron,be easier to install and cheaper. Black plastic can look quite smart. It is white that discolours and looks dingy in time.
while the cosmetic effect of cast iron guttering is more appealing it is costly and will require regular maintenance from rust etc. plastic is cheap and durable and easy to replace. if youve got the cash why not but youve really answered the question yourself.
do you see many people climbing up drain pipes ? I am sure they will look lovely
buy new upvc high end contoured replacement. Don't go to a soffit and roofline Co. Search for Kestrel products online and pay fitting costs!!
