How much area would be window air conditioner cover if it's 5000 BTU?

Question:I want to buy a window unit for my living room. Someone is selling a 5000 BTU unit but I can't figure out how much space that covers. Does anyone with experience know if it will cover a 15 X 10 living room?

A 5000 BTU unit will work fine in your living room. If the unit this someone is selling is over two years old and is not dirt cheep, buy a new one. Shop around, a unit this size goes for around $150.00 or less. Check with Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, places like this.
