How to reduce the noise of elevator?

Question:I live in an efficiency apartment next to the elevator. My apartment is located 14th floor at 15 floor apartment building. I used to hear the noise of the elevator up and down. The noise is quite annoying especially at night. Any suggestion to mitigate the noise?

Answers:
I would talk to your landlord about getting better car guide, counterweight roller assemblies to make the noise of the elevator more quiet going up and down the shaft.

If you are located near the top of the building and hear noise from the machine room, try getting your landlord to get isolation pads on the machinery. Also, if they use old generators, they might have to modernize their elevator to use different drives.

Buy a loud CD player. Unfortunately insulation and sound barrier walls are the only good answer and I doubt your landlord is going to pay for those.
