Answers:
Get in touch with your local council, they sometimes have emergency accomodation for families, if not try the Citizens advice who are excellent in helping with this sort of thing, they know of all the organisations who will help and will even put you in touch and make a few phone calls and appointments for you.
If you qualify as homeless, the local authority will have to help you. It does not have to provide accommodation from its own properties. It can house you in various ways, for example, by referring you to a housing association, or arranging accommodation with a private landlord.
If the local authority decides that you are not homeless, it does not have any duties to arrange long-term accommodation for you. However, it will have some duties to help you, and must provide advice and assistance in finding accommodation, or provide a temporary place to stay while you find a permanent home.
if your parents house is a council house, they would eventually move you as it would be classed as overcrowding & as long as you are sleeping on sofa etc temporarily you can still be classed as homeless.
go & see your local citizen advice beauro in the morning.
Try the citzens advice bureau.

Or contact your local coucil. They suggested I look in local shop windows for a house share when I found myself homeless last year. But they should be more sympathetic to your needs as you have two children.
in theory you would be homeless i think then they council would have to find you accommodation, you will have to accept what ever they give you.
