Don't. if you have snakes, you have vermin. snakes eat rodents, smaller ones eat insects. which would you prefer, a few shy, icky snakes, or being overrun by mice and roaches.

I don't know about bugs but the snakes come for food or water. Rats, mice, other small critters. Water if it is real dry out.
Put out traps and poison for the critters. Seal up holes you think they can get in. And make sure they are out of the house before you seal it up (be there, done that).
Well if you have a lot of little critters around your house they are probably there to eat them so you could get rid of them and the snakes would look for food somewhere else. A good answer would be to have some outside cats. they are not much trouble and they will keep down all the pests.
