What can I do to stop a building project next door siting a static caravan overlooking us?

Question:Next door self-builders propose to site a static caravan overlooking our house, which they willno doubt be in for a further year or so. They have already been in a small caravan sporadically, overlooking us for the past eighteen months. We are in the country, and they could site it elsewhere.

Answers:
CHECK TO SEE IF THEY HAVE PLANNING PERMISSION
for it first. and then put in an objection

Light a bonfire every night.

Damp wood should create enough smoke for you. ^^

Smoke 'em outta there.

OPr plant trees or instal higher fences.
I agree with Tims Dad on this one. To site a static caravan, planning permission MUST be obtained.
I would check with my local council to see what my options are.
I agree with you, why put the caravan where it is an invasion of your privacy?
First of all they'd need permission to do this from your local town planning people. If they do have that permit, try getting support from people in the area and get a petition going to stop them going ahead. May not work if they already have it approved, but it sounds a bit dodgy to me.
True story...

There was a big vacant lot down the street from my house, and with all the property values going up these days someone decided to purchase the lot and was going to build a house on it.

The neighbor next door got pist off because the new owner cut down several large trees, and pretty much didn't want anyone to build a house next door to him.

Several lawsuits where filed with several protests to the city, its been like 5 years now and the only progress on the house is finished foundation and basement. Around the foundation there is a big chainlink fence, to prevent the kids who play on the field from falling into the basement.

The new owner finally got pist off it was taking so long to build his house with all the read tape and hearings, he built another house and let this one go.

Point here is with enough money and time you can prevent it!

I would talk to the neighbor and see if they will work with you, and this is an option if things do not work out!
Maybe you need to look at the long term of this ... they are going to be your neighbors for a long time. Ask them if the caravan can be turned so it doesn't look into your house or ask them to put up a bigger fence until the building works are complete.
Stop whining!
Get a life.
Some very bad advice previously posted - I really wish that people who do not have a clue would stop making it up as they go along.

Sadly your neighbours are entitled to site and live in a caravan under these circumstances. The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 gives an automatic consent for the positioning of temporary buildings and structures which are to be occupied or used in connection with legitimate building operations. These are permitted to remain for the duration of works. The siting of a caravan normally requires a licence but again when used for the purposes you describe they are exempted by the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960. The only hope you have is to approach your neighbours and ask if they would consider putting it somewhere more discreet. If they refuse I regret that there is no action available to you.
