How can we get rid of house lizards?

One of the major reasons why house lizards like to live in our house is easy access to insects that they feed on and the food/left-overs. In tropical climate, where they thrive, we also tend to keep our windows and door open. To stop lizards getting in and staying in the house we need to close all nooks, gaps and cracks through which they get in or where they live. Secondly, use screens or wire mesh to cover all openings. Keep your house clean and tidy. No left-overs food or rubbish should be kept in the open. Periodical pest controlling will reduce insects as well as lizards. A home made solution of water and copper sulphate brushed on the walls will also keep them out. but remember that copper sulphate is toxic specially for children.

Lizards would move around in your place if it gets food. Does your house has a lot of insects like - mosquitoes or cockroaches around? The easiest way is to get rid of these insects. Lizards wil go away itself if it does not get any food. You may also find out where does it normally hide and clean the place to make sure it does not make it her home.

Lizards are insectivorous. Preventing insects will reduce lizrad population.
booge's suggestion of a feline predator is excellent. But the insect population will go up. Though cats also go for the larger insects.
I personally try to avoid killing these. So long as they do not fall into food I let them be.
Occasionally I trap them under a plastic mug and release them in the yard.
find their house and seal it.
a) remove mosquito/ cockroaches from the house
b) donot leave food on the shelves
c) Keep egg shells with a li'l egg white near the entry points and fav hiding places of the lizard
Just hang a piece of onionor get lakshman rekha chalks from the market.
If you are living in a town you can reduce the population by keeping the house clean by removeing the spider etc . If you are livign in a village it is some what difficult:
spray some perfume or deodorants on it with in minute it will fell down u dispose it
Use Khatnil mixed with Kerosene. Its good for Lizards as well as Cockroaches and other insects. But keep it out of range of children in the house.
