Is Brinks or ADT better for home security?

I've answered this question before so I don't want tp be redundant just in case you have read it already. What makes you want to decide between the two biggies when there are plenty of small to mid sized local companies who can provide you with a better level of service? Since I am in the business, I obviously have not dealt with either of these companies installing a system in my home, what I have dealt with, however, is taking over systems because their customers were unhappy with the lack of service. Another issue I found with at least one of them was an extreme wait time when phoning the central station. At one time I waited 20 minutes before even talking to an operator. When dealing with reporting a false alarm or service issue I could see this as being very frustrating. I also know a few dealers for ADT and know how the corporation operates internally... Do I need to mention Tyco? For professional reasons that is all I will say.
Another thing to consider is, when dealing with a local company you are more likely to get a local monitoring station. Pretty much all stations offer some level of redundancy, even if they are not the "big boys". The one thing to be careful of is those who operate a mickey mouse station out of their basement or the back of their office.

I don't know about brinks but I have ADT and had a little bit of a problem with my motion sensors go bad but after 3 tries we got them working again. Overall they aren't Great but not bad either. My alarm went off while we were out of town and when I told them to call the police they were shocked and the police showed up 3 hours later. Not sure who's fault. Hope this helps.
I have had Brinks Home Security for nearly 20 years. I have looked into ADT and they claim better service by decentralizing call centers throughout the country as well as redundant operations that insure rapid response to an emergency. I have stayed with Brinks because they have never given me any reason to switch. ADT is a reputable company but they do not have a product or service at this point that would earn my business and warrent further attention on the matter.
