How can I keep birds out of my yard?

Question:My cat (who only goes outside in the back yard) keeps catching the poor things and bringing them in the house!! I know it is in the cats nature to hunt birds so how can I keep them out of my yard!! (It is for their own good!!)

Answers:
The owl answer is good, however, what ever you decide to do it will probably only cover so many yards.

You will have to get a few owls or make a few stuffed scarecrows and scatter around on chairs. I have done this but it only, at best sometimes keeps them away from that immediate area.

I had a kitty that would do the same thing.

Purchase a plastic owl. Most birds fear them because they are predators, and won't come into your lawn.
If the birds in question are collared doves, then this is a good thing. They are infesting every continent except Antartica. They make good eating too, if you have to. cu coo cu.
Put out plastic life size owls and snakes. Believe me it does work.
get a scarecrow
SCARECROW :)
Purchase yourself a couple of inexpensive speakers, place them in the windows facing the yard and play Barry Manilow music constantly, this will keep everything out of your yard.
my neighbor has all scarecrows and other items in yard, the birds sit on them...
