You didn't mention what type of cactus? Potted or planted?
I would definatly mention it to them. It's not like you found a bottle a beer bottle tossed into your shrubbery. That is rude and disrepectful in itself. It would take pretty good force to SHOVE it into your cactus. Hope it stuck them a good one.
Depending on the type of cactus, it could kill the plant. Cactus a very slow growers and take a lot of yars to get that large. Pickly Pear is one pad a year. Saguaro are about and inch a year. Some cactus have the ability to seal the wound and carry on. It depends on the depth and the size of the wound & the plant.
Cactus plants are expensive. I live in southern Arizona and you will pay about $80.00- $100.00 a foot for a saguaro. Small prickly pear starts (1-2 pads) run about $12.00. Some of the more exotic types could run you $50.00-$75.00.
You don't need to be rude, turn it on to their guest rather then them. "One of your guests last night may have.." Perhaps they will more aware & sensitive of where their guests are at the next party.
Straight up - " hey guys I found this bottle in my plant, so next party, just please have a bag for bottles" - just use a soft tone of voice. If they are decent people, then they should respect your request.
Say, hic! nothing. Just remove the, hic! damn thing and forget about it.
When you see them take the bottle and chuck it at them. Screaming "Here is your !@$%@#! bottle, you !@$%#@#$. Next time I will kick your !@#%$@!
That is probably the most tactful way to handle that particular situation.
Totally agree with Cody, be polite and just mention what happened, hopefully next time they will monitor their guests better.
Just throw the can on their lawn. Its a lose lose situation whether you tell them or not.
you just told us tell them the same thing, oh yes your hubby sounds like a wimp
Say nothing until this partying and littering become a habit. They know they were probably loud and they will probably address it before you say anything to them. I don't think they intentionally put ONE beer bottle in your cactus.
If you are going to say something anyway, whether you are rude or not, you might just make things worse the next time. So be prepared!
