What's the best way to get rid of Ivy if you can't get to the roots?

Question:I have ivy growing over the top of my brick shed and it's started to get inside, damaging the brickwork. I can't get to the root to dig it up so it needs to be killed or kept at bay which isn't easy as it's the other side of my pond!

Answers:
Cut off as much of the ivy as you can, down to the top of the roots. Then use an appropriate herbicide to kill the roots. Ask someone at a garden shop about which one to use.
