What is the best way to rid house of cockroaches. I seen 3 today and I have never had to deal with them before

Question:My house is very clean and no open food sitting around HELP!

Answers:
If you have 3, chances are you will have an infestation if you don't already. When I had several in my apartment (one of the other apts. in my building that wasn't clean got bugs, and they moved over to mine), the maintenance was going to bug bomb my apartment. Apparently when you have several roaches and you're in a smaller area like an apartment, bug bombs are the best way to get them out. If you have a large house, you may need to get an exterminator. I read that roaches do not like tea tree oil, so for my roach problem, I set a few rags soaked in the oil around my kitchen (the roaches were only in the kitchen). This was enough to get rid of them. I was surprised, because I would notice about 3 or four during the course of the day, and thought I'd need more intensive treatment. So, I would try the tea tree oil unless they get worse. Bug sprays also didn't deter the roaches at all. I bought Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil in the ethnic hair care department at the drugstore.

Call an exterminator and spray raid around the house (but be careful if you have other animals or younger kids!)
roach motels, just place them around your kitchen in mostly dark places, cabinets, under the sink, behind doors.
call pest control...
there are roach traps that you could use. they are safe because they don't have any chemicals that are sprayed and therefore not harmful to children or animals. However, placement should be considered. PLace them where you saw the roaches (in immediate areas). If it was the kitchen, I would suggest under the stove, in cabinets and under refridgerator and under sink. Behind trash containers. There are also gels that you could use as well. that are more subtle and cann't be easily detected. Those can be put along underside of areas. If the problem persists, you could consider an exterminator or they also have "bombs" for roaches that you can buy. They are more cost effective and thorough. They need to be used one per room (I would suggest bombing every room if the traps and gel don't work. they might have had time to move and breed) These bombs cann't be used while people or pets are around. you would need to open all drawers and cabinets and closets, keep all windows closed and vacate for at least 4 hours. If you have kids, make it a family day and go to the park.

Good luck.
If you see 3, you have MILLIONS! Well maybe just hundreds of thousands of them. You need to put traps, caulk all holes they can get in thru and but Roach-Pruf powder. Basically it is just Boric Acid. If you have pets or small crawling kids though DO NOT get the Roach-Pruf. Roaches are cannibals, they eat there own dead, this is a good thing because anything that kills one, and stays o nthe skin, will kill many. Roach-Pruf fits that to a tee! They crawl thru it, it sticks to their greasy bodies and kills them, since they are so small it only takes a small amount, but they get alot of them, so the others die when feasting. Be AGRESSIVE, they will NOT go away on their own!! They will even eat glue off of envelopes!
