Is it better to rent an apartment with all utilities included or rent a cheaper apartment and pay your own?

If you are interested in a place, talk to a couple of the other renters and see if they will tell you what utilities average. You may find that the utilities will be much more than the couple hundred dollars difference between not included and included.

It is usually better to rent with utilities included, because the budgeting is much easier. Same amount every month with no fluctuation, but if the difference is more than a couple hundred dollars, I would definitely check into what utilities run at the pay your own. If there are no other tenants in the building, call the local utilities and they will tell you what bills ran last year.

Rent with all utilities included.
Depends on utility rates where you live. Also depends on the climate, colder northern states will use more heat in the winter. Hotter southern states will use more AC in summer.
Here in CO my winter bill is much higher than my summer bill.
It would depend on what kind of heat/cooling it had and where you lived. Is it a fairly new apartment that would have better insulation and better energy efficient appliances or an older apartment that might have higher energy bills?
You have to compare.

Say the apartment is a studio for 800/mo all util included.

And there is one just like it for 700/mo nothing included. You then have to take in accound what each utility would cost. If it then comes over the 800 it pays to get the all incl.

If on the other hand you find that the util wouldcome to 750 tops then you take the none incl.

You would have to do the math and compare pros and cons of each apartment and situation
Bills included!! defo!

Unless there's a big difference of course. The amount of time and hassle saved when you don't have to worry about where your bill moneys coming from, or how much your using.

This is coming from experience...
It depends on the amount of the rent and the size of the apartment! Utilities are going up all the time ours were unregulated this year and have gone up 33% since January. That's electric and gas..believe me when that happens you learn to insulate and dial down.
It depends really... If you are renting an apartment that rents by the room and everything is included and you have to share with other people then no... its not worth it... in my opinion .You really have to shop around for an apartment... sometimes you'll find a bigger nicer one for cheaper...

You know what is gonna be better for you.
rent w/utilities with everything going up then again calculate how much do you incur without being included what the cheapeast deposits, etc.
Depends on where it is. Do you use heat and A/c? Usually with utilities included is better deal if you use all the utilities.
You have to try to figure out how much your utilities are per month and then decide if having them included is a good deal or not. Some people use tons of heat, electric and gas and some do not.
