Why would a rose bush have a wax-like coating on the branches? Is this a disease, from the heat, bugs?

Question:Bush just bought from Wal-Mart and did sit in car overnight.

Was only rose bush left of this color so I would like to save it if possible!

Thanks!

Answers:
It is a coating that nurseries put on them to help protect them before selling...Just soak them in water before planting and it should melt off. If not no big deal...I have planted them with the wax still on them and they are growing fine..

Just like some fresh fruit, a wax-like preservative is used on the surface to maintain the freshness while marketing and prevent evaporation. It is not a danger, and you do not have to remove it.
