They come with a 20 year guarantee so you should be alright
if you want to sleep in a hot sticky you-shaped hole...
i slept on one one night and hated it!
Been sleeping on mine for 3 years and it still seems to be ok
Tempurpedic is for snobs who refuse to sleep on normal beds.
Have had ours for 3 + years and no dramas at all. We both love it. We actually did quite a bit of research and bought a 50mm thick piece to go on top of our standard mattress, and that's all you need, any thicker and it won't make a difference only to your wallet.
At the time of our purchase the cost of 50mm queen from factory $300 AUS, the cost of a full mattress from retailer $2500 AUS you choose!
Genuine Tempur-pedic mattresses will last for about 15 years (10 if you are very heavy).
The material will soften soon after initial use, but this is not to be confused with wearing out.
The 2 or 3 years refers to the warranty on the material itself (2 for bedding, 3 for pillows). Any reference to 20 years refers to the warranty on the mechanism (only) of their adjustable (hospital style) beds.
Toppers (meant to be overlaid on a traditional bed) are often made from foam similar but less dense than Tempur-pedic and will last only 2-4 years.
I personally can't stand the stuff since I feel like a fly stuck on fly paper in one. Once I sink into the material I become essentially immobilized and can't move around or roll on my side. My joints and back might be well supported but my muscles ache something fierce.
