What is the best kind of food to keep in a deep freezer for emergency purposes?
Question:What other kind of things should I have in case there is a disaster?
Answers:
I think you would be better off to stockpile M.R.E.'s as well as water, sugar, salt, Coffey, canned meats, can veggies, and cigarettes(even if you don't smoke others do and you can barter with them like cash)and when I say stock pile I mean buy case's of everything you can get in the above list,
they will serve you better with out refrigeration,
also I would stay away from having a generator, the reason why is security concerns as well as having to come up with fuel to run the d*** thing,
In a survivalist scenario, you want as little attention as possible, that being the case better to use that money to purchase more of the things that you can eat than things that make you comfortable or cause stress,
also a fire arm of some sort(Im sure you already have one,) but more of those in this situation would not be a bad idea, and can lead to fresh meat that you dont have to deep freeze
also Twinkies, and spaghettio's, you cant beat Twinkies for shelf life, and hell who would want to live a life without spaghettio's??
oatmeal freezes really well
Dearie, in an emergency, you will most likely lose power. Keeping perishable emergency things in a deep freeze means that they will spoil.
Experts agree that keeping all sorts of CANNED food, along with an easy way to heat things up such as Sterno, is good emergency planning. And don't forget the can opener!
Also, you can by MREs (like they make for the Armed Forces) through the internet. These make great emergency supplies.
Have a nice day!
Nothing you keep in a freezer is good for a disaster. In a real disaster, there is a good chance the electricity will go out and then you'd just lose everything. What you need to stock up on is dehydrated and irradiated foods, water, basic toiletries like soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc., batteries, a portable radio, a good first aid kit, and sturdy clothing. If possible, also keep a temporary shelter or something you could make into a shelter if necessary. But above all, clean water.
Nothing. In a disaster, you will most likely lose your electricity. You are better off keeping a supply of canned goods on hand, as well as some bottled water. Also, a generator isn't a bad idea, depending on what disaster you are expecting.
if you stock your freezer buy a generator so your food will not spoil and you have power to power a radio or TV so you can stay informed. you will also be able to run an ele. stove if you buy one big enough
Emily is right.
If you want to take advantage of your freezer space, store 2 liter bottles of ice. This will help keep any food you from losing as much food in a power outage. Having the ice on hand also comes in handy when you need ice for a cooler.
In the event of a real disaster water is priceless!
