What can you do if you discover black mold in your house, can you claim any damages from house insurance?
Question:I know you need to wear a mask and gloves and use javex and ammonia to wash it away. I am allergic to mold, dust, and dustmites, so I believe I should wear a charcoal filtered mask to protect me from the toxins, it looks like a gas mask, and can be purchased from the safety supply store.
Answers:
Insurance is about a sudden occurrence Mold happens over a period of time so it's not covered. The only times it is covered is when you have water damage as a result of a covered loss then get mold as a result of that loss. I strongly recommend you call you agent and explain your situation. Don't call the companies 800 line. They tend to place a claim automatically weather you are covered or not.
depends on your home owners, probably in walls and such, spray Bleach on it to kill it,
Unless the mold was caused by flooding or other disater, it's unlikely it would be covered by insurance. never hurts to ask though. Clean with bleach and water.
