Will attic fan be enough for San Jose, CA summer.?

Question:We just relocated to San Jose, CA. I am told AC is generally not required here except for a few weeks in July and August (when temp hits about 95F). Will an attic fan be a good alternative - to say cool the house to about 75F during days and nights.

Answers:
I live in Escondido and was told the same thing, but I can tell you when it is 95 degrees here, the house gets hot. I use a combination of ceiling fans and the attic fan, supplementing with window fans to blow out hot air during the summer. I keep my inside temperature around 70 degrees on the first story and about 75 degrees upstairs by doing so. I only use the AC when we get humidity which has happened twice in 9 years.
