Iron scale?

Question:How do i get rid of the black deposits accumulated on the underside of my iron

Answers:
I use steel wool while iron is warm (not HOT)

Semen, obviously
If its not "pitted" on, then try runing your iron on some pine needles! (yep, I saw a guy who swears by this in the service and it took a lot of "gunk" off the bottom of his iron).

Steel wool (00 guage), will do, but if its "coated", then dont do this at all, as it wikll take the coating off, only on shiny steel bottoms.

I wish you well...

Jesse
I had this happenig all the time and always when ironing a white top, the iron would choose to deposit nasty black water all over it.
We live in a hard water area which is to blame and so I have started using the fragranced ironing water from the supermarket and it has stopped the black marks from happening.
Use a sachet of proprietary iron scale cleaner and follow the instructions.
