New flat has 2 seperate electricity meters?

Question:I'm about to move into a new one bedroom flat and was in it for a little while the other day to measure for furniture etc. While I was there I noticed that there seems to be 2 seperate, different digital electricity meters (NOT an economy 7 meter with 2 readings).

Can anyone shed some light as to why this might be? Can economy 7 be supplied using 2 completely seperate meters? Could it be that some things are just on a seperate meter and the readings will be added together for billing? I'm so confused, any help will be much appreciated.

Answers:
do you have storage heaters if so then there are 2 meters 1 for them the other for normal usage lights etc. a flat i used to rent also had 2 meters 1 for me the other for the flat upstairs.

early eco 7 was supplied by adding a new (second) meter the newer ones have a single meter with the two readings
You need to get this checked out as it could significantly increase your bills as you may have to pay two standing charges. One of the meters is probably for premises downstairs but I would find out before moving in.
are they nearby each other? is one of them the landlords? was the flat originally two flats?do they conect to two differant fuse boards? some answers might help.
is one white as eco7 was installed with these in the early days
seeing as you say digital that means not economy 7 as digital would be one
is one card meter fitted by landlord and other belong to electric board (landlord skanking extra money by making his meter charge higher)
other possibility is that original meter suspect faulty readings so other checking readings in tandem
