How come Brand new Doublewides are made so cheaply, and sold so expensive?
Question:Went to LTS Homes in NY, and although from the outside it's inviting apart from the cement slab the walls inside I noticed either had cracks in it, or tissue thin. I noticed stains around the windows on the ceiling, so I don't think the roof handles well with rain and such. These homes go for over $70,000 , so how do they get away with making them so cheaply and sell them for a lot, when it isn't a real home?

You're being unfair. Do you realize the home you saw was set up TEMPORARILY? It probably does have cracks and leaks, but it's on movable terrain. When they are set up permanently the chances of all that stuff occurring is negligible. Also, as was stated, all the homes come with a one year waranty. ANY problems will be fixed for one full year.
Also, perhaps the home you saw was an entry level one. I have seen high end homes START at $80K and go up with adding options.
One more thing, I think what you thought was cement slab was unprimed drywall.
thats how you get rich...sell a cheap product expensively. But, I bet if you check BBB, LTS Homes is not their favorite builder.

Check into modular homes. Double wides are for rednecks
If people would realize it, you can take the money you spend on one and buy a real home. They are cheaply made and by the time you pay them off, there will not be anything left to live in!!!
I don't know anything about this manufacturer but I have seen some premium doublewides and triplewides. Then again, $70,000 for a home is not high. Think how much a site built home with the same square footage would cost to build. When I had a doublewide in Florida, all the defects were taken care of during the warranty period and I really liked the home.
