Millions of flies in my house?
Question:Ever since the warm weather has started we have had a MILLION flies in the house. We can't seem to get rid of them, for every 10-20 we kill, they just come back. We've moved the garbage away from the house, there is no food left out, all the doors and windows are closed, we cannot figure out how these flies are coming in and why they are so attracted to us! They just come in and sit in the windows, pretty much anytime during the day if I lift the blinds I'll see about 20 flies just sitting there in the window. PLEASE HELP!! I live in Northern NJ if that helps at all.
Answers:
We had small holes in the overhang (sophets) of the house and bugs (& bees) came in which was creating a picnic in the ceiling & walls. We had tile ceiling, which the flies & occasional wasp found their way in the house. The wasps set up housekeeping in the walls.
Check cracks around all windows & doors (bottom frames of doors, too), sophets with holes, and/or ceiling tiles.
We replaced sophet, eliminated ceiling tiles with sheetrock & calked all outside windows, doors & bottom strip of siding.
Ahhhh, peaceful.
In the meantime, keep spraying until find their pathway.
On a farm? They are attracted to your body odor. You need those sticky strips that come in a coil and you heat over the oven. and then hang up on the ceiling. That will reduce the population. Otherwise keep it cool indoors. Flies like heat not cold.
They might be hatching out of eggs that are already in the house somehow. Have you tried just opening the windows and letting them outside?
