Is it possible to lighten a recent stained porch or even add a little red tint to it? Mine came out orange.?

Question:I recently stained my porch. I bought the same product I used for my deck in back (which was premixed) but this time they had to mix the stain and it has to much orange. I would like for it to be a little more redish color but I don't want to have to strip the wood. Even if I could lighten it, that would be good. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the orange color a little without stripping the wood? It is a semitransparent stain and isn't very cheap. I would like to match the deck more. Thanks for your help.

Answers:
Try a mild solution of TSP (trisodiumphosphate) available at most hardware stores. Use it judiciously and wait a few minutes before washing it off THOROUGHLY. Start very weak as over-bleaching will just create another problem.

A power washer we rented from a home store took our ugly dark brown stain off our decks. It might work for you.
