Does anyone know a household solution for getting rid of ants?
Question:not everyone can afford an exterminator
Answers:
Sweet-N-Low was initially developed as an ant poison. No Kidding. Put some on a saucer where the ants travel. Watch them die.
Then go buy your self some good old fashioned Louisiana Cane sugar for your coffee. You will never eat that diet stuff again.
Anteaters. Armadillos are also good.
Lots of ant ridding supplies at the hardware store.
I go buy TERRO- it works...pour some on the cardboard they supply with it - put it down where you see the ants - keep a fresh supply for them..
first they will come in huge amounts (its gross) - but, don't kill them - leave them alone ... and then eventually- they will bring it back to the 'ant farm' and kill them all off... might take about a day or 2 for them to disappear. don't let little children eat it though : )
you can find it at menards, walmart, grocery store.. or whatever - for about $5.00 or less.
make sure you have a clean house make sure the kitchen is clean also, you can use boric acid sprinkle around the baseboards and doors borax powder can be use too. but make sure there are no pets or young kids around very harmful to them.
Homemade ant bait can be made by mixing a small amount of boric acid into a sweet or greasy food source for foraging ants. You can buy 20 Mule Team Borax in the detergent section. Honey mixed with peanut butter is a common bait. Add approximately 1 teasp of boric acid per cup of the food bait. Place this mixture in an area visited by ants, & away from children and pets in out-of-the-way areas. It works faster if there are no other food sources nearby. Boric acid is a soil sterilant and should never be placed on soils where plants are growing or that may be used for growing plants in the future. Boric acid is powerful ... it's even used in roach powders such as Roach-Prufe.
where are the ants?? inside mix some boric acid with sugar put in a bottle top put these around the area out side get a sponge that has beneficial nematodes on it or sprinkle some dyentanatious earth but not the kind for swimming pools
