Why do the leaves on African violets get limp?

Question:The leaves are getting very limp. The plants are not overwatered, and are in selfwatering pots. I have even re-potted them with no success. Only some of the plants are affected.

Answers:
African violets are very tempermental about the temperature they are kept in. Check to see if they are near a wall or floor vent. They perform best at 70 degrees & higher. Any cooler and their leaves can curl. Even the water should be room temperature, or as close as possible in temperature to the air around your plants. When the water is too cold, it chills the roots of African violets, causing leaves to curl down as the water is absorbed into the plant. Try adjusting these few things and see if that helps. My guess is that your AC is causing all your chaos. Good Luck!

This is caused by the soil being too wet. Self-watering pots can make the soil too wet. Let them soak up all the water they can and then dump the water out. Don't fill it again until the soil feels a bit drier, then let it soak again and drain again.
is it possible you may be getting water on the leaves ?
saint paulia hates water on her leaves.
It sounds like they are still getting to much water. I would not use self watering pots. African violets like eastern light and do not like their soil disturbed. They also thrive on rain water over tap water.
I have heard that touching the leaves of this type of plant can cause problems. If overwatering is not a problem, maybe you wound up touching the leaves while replanting?
Mom always said that African violets had to be watered from the bottom.only put water in the little dish under the pot.
put some viagra in the water itll be fine
