Advice on purchasing a pool cleaning robot for inground pool?
Question:any suggestions or advice on buying a pool robot, it's a big purchase so we want to get the best one for the money. Our built in pool is about 20 x 40 and goes from 3' to 8' deep. Thanks
Answers:
there are 3 types of cleaners (or "robots") and you should choose which one you are looking for first.
There is the "suction side" cleaner, which hooks up to you skimmer and slurps around the bottom of the pool. These are the cheapest and least efficient.
There is the "Pressure side" cleaners (like a Ray-Vac) these get a stream of water from the pump to push it around the pool. We have one of these and it is great, we got if free from a friend who said it did not work.. so go figure. The biggest problem with these is that you have to hard-install some piping from the pump to the cleaner... that may be expensive if you are trying to add this to an existing pool.
Then there is a "robot" that roams around the bottom and sides of the pool. There are some robots that are battery operated and some that are plug in (with a long extension cord). It seems to me that the good ones are $2K or so.
With our Ray vac running, we vacuum about once a month. It was well worth it.

it is not efficient i had one and it gets spoiled a Lot, i pay more then $654 fixing it. SO I STOPPED USING IT
