Leave your windows open in the early morning/late night if you can. It will bring in the cool outside air. Close them before the hottest part of the day. It also helps to keep curtains closed to block the sun. I use fans in each room of my house. So far it hasn't been too bad even with high 90 temps we get at times.
think about winter
Put all your clothes and blankets in the freezer over night.
If you open windows on opposite sides of the room or house then place a fan in or near the windows with the air flow facing out the window, this can cool off the heat considerably.
I did not air conditioning for years and this is how we cooled the house. Place the fan nea the window facing west, in this was you get the cooler air from the eastern facing window.
Wet yourself.. I dont mean that in the dirty way, but just like winter -> if your body is wet, air will cool it so much easier. Thus why I take a shower before bed :)
I used to have to work outside, winter, summer, spring and fall...It didn't matter the weather. One thing I learned while working outside was to get a bandanna, wet it and place it around my forehead or wrap it around my neck. If you can dip even the tip of your fingers or toes in cool water for even a few minutes, it's amazing how it can cool your whole body. There is another place where you can slip a nice, cool wash cloth that will help tremendously, but I'm not going to say where that is here, I'll let you use your imagination...
