Dorm room necessities?
Question:I am buying things for my dorm, and I think I just about have it all, but I know I am forgetting some things. Any items you found helpful to have in your dorm, or anything you think would be cute to add to mine? Thanks for your help.

The things I thought would be useful that were not mentioned in the list.
A dorm refrigerator, small microwave. I would think the thin long under bed Rubbermaid containers with the tops that open from each end and are hinged in the middle, would be really useful for storage. About three should fit under a twin bed.
If the bed is not high enough they make risers to give you more under bed space. Home depot carries them in concrete, but I have seen them around in places that sell college furniture things.
I was thinking an over the door plastic shoe bag with the clear pockets, would be beneficial for bottles of hair products, etc.
That is all I can think of for now. Have a great 4 years.
Oh, man, I'm feeling slightly nostalgic for my dorm days reading this (almost 5 years ago but it doesn't feel that long somehow). Here are some things I would suggest that you might not be thinking of already:
-Shower shoes
-Bath caddy to carry to communal bathroom
-Bath robe
-Paper towels and hand soap (just in case they run out & they probably will :)
-Emergency food supplies even if you have a meal plan
-White board (not essential, but we enjoyed writing silly notes LOL)
-Umbrella for walking on campus
-Headphones so that you can listen to your own music without disturbing your roommate
-Pain relievers that you often use.
-Cute pajamas that you do not mind your roommate (and anyone else who happens to stop by your room) seeing.
-All toileteries. (Double check. I forgot to bring a hair brush with me for some reason and I ended up having to walk all the way across campus to go to the school convenience store to buy one after my first class, LOL.)
Dorms can be really fun, like camping. I would get there as soon as it opens to try to meet as many people as you can in the beginning before any groups start to form. Good luck. :)
