I recently moved into a 1st floor apartment and saw a mouse a couple of weeks ago. The landlord gave me?

Question:some glue traps and I came home to find one on the trap. I was so grossed out I had to make a friend come to dispose of it. I saw another one yesterday and freaked out. I put out another trap and did not sleep well. I am at a point that I don't even want to go home at all. Any advice on how I can deal with this without losing my mind?

Answers:
If the mouse problem is severe, talk to your landlord about calling an exterminator. If he refuses to clean up the place, you can contact the department of housing. If he isn't willing to clean it up, maybe he will let you out of your lease, so you can move to a clean apartment.

Unfortunately traps are the only way to go. There are traps out there that you can buy at the supermarket or at a home store like home depot that are covered. The mouse goes in and does not come out. You can simply pick up the trap, not see it, and dispose of it. I would however if you keep getting alot of mice suggest to the landlord that they get an exterminator to check the building. It might be a larger problem.
Contact your state's Department of Landlords & Tennants.
Put several spring traps all around your bed, be sure to be careful when you get out of bed or you may have another problem. Seriously, no one has ever died of mouse attack.
Get a mouser cat, they will take care of the problem.
get a kitty, or you could call an exterminator, yor landlord should have to pay for it
There are more humane traps that may help to ease your mind. They involve a screened cage and a trap door... you put food in the trap to lure the mice and then you can release them in a field or something later. Ultimately, you'll want to figure out where the mice are coming from and seal up the apartment -- this is something that your landlord should do for you. Can you borrow a cat? Our cat is an excellent mouser.

Here, look at these traps -- ask your landlord to get these for you:
you need to find where the mice are getting in and block the hole..check under sinks around pipes. in cracks etc or when you see a mouse you or a friend can kinda chase it to see where it heads..usually to the same place it is getting in..if it is not feasable to nail a board up then stuff the hole and any other holes you find with steel wool..the mice cannot chew through it...
They are getting in some way, and I just bet your landlord has heard this complaint before. Mice can do a lot of damage... chewing through electrical cords is one, and contaminating food supplies is another. But a mouse will not bother you... he is far more afraid of you than you are of him. Ask your landlord for an exterminator.

All cats are not mousers.
A natural way to rid your apartment of mice is buy some pepermint extract and cotton balls. Put a few drops of pepermint extract on the cotton balls and place them under your bed, in your kitchen drawers and any other place you might think mice are. If you can see any mouse holes, plug them with steel wool. The mice cannot or will not chew through the steel wool and therefore; not be able to get into your apartment.

Good luck
Try to find out how they are getting into your apartment to begin with, then either you or find someone to close off any holes in walls, look under your sinks where any pipelines come into your apartment, and close off with aluminum foil or pie pans, or better yet, steel wool which will easily poke into all those very small places where mice can squeeze through.
Mice can not chew through steel wool or aluminum.

You are better off doing that first before setting out any traps. Cover all possible entrances they are coming through, then put out the traps to get rid of the ones that maybe nesting in your apartment.

They can be gotten rid of, at least from coming into your apartment, but it will take a little time and work on your part. Remember.look for ALL small places, you would be surprised as to how small of a hole a mouse could come through.

Good Luck
tell your landlord that he needs to fix your problem.
You need to make sure that you remove the temptation for them to visit you by putting all food items in plastic or metal containers. Pet food is a big draw for them as well as food left on dishes in the sink or on the counter. Glue traps are the best way of catching them. Scooping the trap into a coffee can with alcohol in it euthanizes them. Poison can cause them to die in places you don't want to find them - or smell them.
tell you landlord its unacceptable and he needs to get an exterminator NOW or u will move. its unsanitary
