I have a problem with birds pecking at the trunk of my 'aspen' looking trees (I don't know the name).
Question:What would you put on the trunk of the tree to discourage them from pecking? I have already lost one tree due to this (and afids) and need to find a solution.

okay here goes go get a birdbath and place a plastic owl statue in there . move it every couple of days so they think it is real and they wont mess with your tree they will go away . I know this sounds crazy but it really does work.
they might be pecking for insects maybe spray your tree with some kind of bug stuff. you can also go to a landscaping place in your town and they should help you.
