If they are honey bees, see if you can't find a local beekeeper to take them away for you! They will be glad to take them away.
If they are nasty yellow jackets or wasps, Raid makes a spray for them. Or if you want to try and kill them w/o chemicals a heavy soapy (dish soap) solution in a spray bottle will do the job (the soap bubbles will clog the spiracles (insect's lungs)). It takes longer though.
I don't recommend a baseball bat, and semi-automatic weapons are too noisy.
Seriously there are many products available that will kill bees. Just read the instructions and you'll be fine.
Many bees believe it or not are protected, might be an idea to check this out before killing them!
Find you local bee keeper and get them to remove the bees. Most bee keepers do this as a service to the community. If you can get around it, please don't kill the bees.

Call a beekeeper or bee control company, not an exterminater. Most bees leave you alone if you leave them alone. When encountered, relax, don't wave your arms or swat. If one does sting, don't panic, calmly walk away.
If people are around them with bee allergies, be sure to have antidotes immediately available.
Also, if they are in an area you don't need to access for a while, just be patient. They will eventually complete their mission and leave.
