Experienced movers and those in the industry, give me advice about an upcoming big move for us.?
Question:The packers are coming tomorrow and I plant o feed them all day, bagels in the morning, burgers for lunch, etc. I plan to tip the driver heavily in the sight of the packers just before they leave. I plan to be on hand (or my husband) for the packing. The anxiety is driving me to drink! Give me your wisdom!

It is very good of you to feed them, many people forget that most packing companies are from elsewhere and they have to travel to pack people up. I wouldn't worry and expecially if your going to be right there, most moving companies do background checks on their employees. We usually packed our small items in boxes and labled them and let the packers get the heavier stuff. The worry shouldn't be in the packing and loading of your things, it should be in the transport and storage of your things. My family and I have had numerous moves and during each move we have lost one thing or another. Sometimes it was valuables and sometimes it wasn't, not the point. I would make sure you have a reputable company to move you and if there will be any long term storage I would take complete inventory of what you store in the event of misplacement (thats what they call it) or damaged items. I wouldn't let it stress me, just make sure you are prepared with your inventory when they get there. Good Luck!!

We had boxes with K for Kitchen, L for Livingroom, Bath for bathroom, 1BR (K-BR for Kate's Bedroom) or 2BR, etc..
But, we marked with red marker on the boxes that we felt was important to open first. These boxes may not had the entire dish set in it but at least one full setting per person and one full set of bedding per room, etc... (just like a luggage packing for a trip) This made less hunt & find for the now things and go thru remaining boxes later.
