Home cooling - Heat pump?
Question:I'm renting and the realitor is closed, but it is 90* and I am roasting! My husband is at work so he can't help either so I am asking here.
Anyway, When they showed us the house they told us about the cooling system. It only has 2 switches, fan speed and pump. So I am guessing its a heat pump? How do I use it? Does it have anything to do with my vents in the house and does my gas have to be on? I just dont get how it works so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I know you say that the realtor isn't open for business BUT if you are renting, you should have someone you can call, at ALL times. Obviously what you have is not working or else you would not be so hot. I don't know what you have in place but I would call my landlord and ask him/her to send a repair person over because the air conditioning isn't working. Surely you can call the owner of the home and tell him that it isn't working. He might first come over to see if there is something you're not doing but I cannot imagine anything being that complicated. It just sounds as if it's not working properly. If your landlord does NOT take care of the problem to your satisfaction, you might just advise him that you're going to have to call someone yourself and will try to get someone who is honest, trustworthy and competent. Doing this would probably solve the problem. Someone has to know how the system works and the landlord is responsible for everything being in working order. Good luck to you!!
Sounds typical of a swamp cooler. The pump soaks the units aspen chip mats and the fan draws air through to cool. Turn on pump for 10 minutes or so and then turn to fan and it should work.
