How do I get rid of roaches in my backyard?
Question:I live in a Sub Division that is surrounded by Resturants. Lately at night, roaches are everywere in my backyard. I have a dog; is their anything I can use to get rid of tthe roaches that won't harm my dog?
Any help would be great!

Hide roach "traps" around the yard where the dog won't get them. you can 'tape' them to trees or the foundation of your house. If you have steps line the steps or the perimeter of your yard with them. this way your dog will not eat the poisen.
best bet is roach spray and make sure your dog doesnt try to lick/eat the areas that you sprayed, or any dead roaches.
Is your backyard fenced in? If it IS- then buy a couple of chickens (no roosters please- or us neighbors will complain!). They LOVE roaches...- & they'll "reward" you with a half dozen eggs a week- if you can keep your dog from having them for dinner... :)
Roaches are a type of beetle and they don't like pennyroyal ( a mint plant that should not be eaten due to its toxicity). Also, boric acid will dry them out, but your dog should not ingest that either. Otherwise you will have to have the pros come and spray and make sure you clean up the carcasses so your dog doesn't eat them and get poisoned.
If they are the large breed, you will not see them in you house except for an occasional stray.

chickens or Cornish hens will eat them
ferrets on leads will eat them and play with your dog depending on dog breed
large birds attracted to one food may see them and add to their diet.
more squirrels and chip monks will also eat them.
poisons will drive them back if you barrier your yard perimeter.
have the stores do the work for you and complain to the health department about the infestations.
I'm surprized your dog doesn't eat them! Mine did!
