What's the best way to get the glue off the side of a glass jar?
Question:I like to recycle glass jars. After peeling off the label, there is still residual sticky glue on the jar. I don't know the best way to get this stuff off.

hi
you can use any oil to remove the goo, cooking oil, beauty oil ,,saturate wait few min = using your fingure just rub. it should roll up and peel off, my first experience was with a avon product, but it is expensive to waste so i tried the other oils,,,most work. good luck
try submerging in warm water and leaving it there over night...It works!
this might sound odd but I would highly recommend acetone nail polish remover found at any dollar store. Quick and easy and best of all, cheap ! Janet
Hot water and some lighter fluid is the best way. If that doesn't work try a rock.
There is a product called Goof Off that does it well. Available in hardware stores, Home Depot, or Lowes, possibly elsewhere. I think I bought it at Home Depot. Comes in a 4 oz. can.
Soak it in really hot water. I mean really hot, and use rubber gloves to scrub it off.
WARM WATER
Lighter fluid works well. I've also heard that a hair dryer works, too, but I've never tried that.
my favorite is a product called De-Solv-it that you buy at wal-mart or the hardware store or lowes or home depot. it is in spray bottle. just spray a little on, give it a minute or two and the glue should right off. other solvents that might work are WD-40 , alchohol, or some such. be aware that if you use something like fingernail polish remover on plastics it may melt or distort the plastic.
Try goo-gone. I think you can buy it at wal-mart, but I have always gotten at Family Dollar if you have one near you. It takes the residue right off.
Mineral Spirits will take the glue right off.
Wash with soap and water afterward to remove the mineral spirits resudue.
