I have noticed some small cracks running up the side of my house?
Question:they are following the brickwork outline, seems to me to be from the bottom to about half way up the house, the house is 10 years old, is this the start of a big problem. We have no water coming in, this is just something l noticed while doing some gardening, otherwise l would not have known they were there.

Could be that your foundation is shifting. How serious it is would have to be determined by an expert.
Sounds like the house is settling
if you live near any coal companys and they're blasting that will mess up a foundation really fast
my parents house has both problems house settling into the ground and there are 3 differnt coal companys around them who blast alot , so they've got alot of cracks the biggest one i've seen yet is up against the base of the house(it would be the basment if u were in the house) where the yard stops and the house starts it's wide enough that you can toss things into the "gap" old cigarette butts, sticks, coins
the only thing you can prob. do is have a person who is in contruction come out and look at it and see if it is fixable before it gets any worse
It sounds like you have not had enough moisture around your foundation and the structure is shifting. It could be a big problem in that the foundation needs leveling.
The house is settling..this is very common..however the cracks can be filled with a mortar in a tube like caulking..you can buy it at any diy hardware store..and i would fill the cracks to prevent leakage in the future..about 4.00 a tube
